My D500 gets a lot of long-lens use in the late afternoons or early mornings when there is often a lot of glare from the side. This eyecup helps block that light and allow for critical manual focusing while tracking fast moving subjects.I’m able to use this, but it would be more comfortable to have a tiny bit more diopter correction than the camera by itself does. I do not see a cost-effective way to add a diopter to this setup. Most photographers have superb vision without correction, so I probably won’t get my wish in this regard.The rubber is a bit hard, but the fit to the camera and function are just fine. Rotating into the vertical mode is no trouble, but it does take a little getting used to dealing with it.This is not compatible with any of the diopter lenses that increase the range of correction for those that require reading glasses and more correction than the built-in D500 correction.Installation is simple. Close the eyepiece shutter, unscrew the original round eyepiece and then install this unit instead.

For the money this is best eye cup that I have used for Nikon D7000, D7200 and D7100.I have purchased multiple of this unit. Yes, it covers bit of the LCD display, but that isnot enough for that to be knocked down in rating. The eye piece stay put under almostall circumstances, and it is rotatable if you wish. Overall a very good eye cup for keepingside ingress of lights, this giving easy view of the view finder. Recommended.
